Design Your Own Leather Phone Case
We offer full wrap and half wrap leather application methods for custom leather phone cases. Leather coverage, panel layout, bonding, and finishing are developed according to the shell geometry, material combination.
Our Leather Wrapping and Bonding Options
Full Leather Wrapping
Surface-Bonded and Recessed Leather Panels
We develop the cutting patterns, joint locations, and alignment method around your design, controlling panel placement and joint consistency to match the approved sample.
Recessed panels: Leather panels are aligned and bonded into a recess on the back of a polycarbonate (PC) shell. We match the combined thickness of the leather and adhesive layer to the recess depth.
Which Leather Application Method Suits Your Design?
Your target market, brand identity, and design style help define where the leather should cover the case. We then select a practical wrapping method based on the shell’s construction, how the materials can be processed, and your target cost.
Back Panel Bonding
Leather covers only the back of the case, leaving the PC or TPU frame exposed. This method suits designs that retain the original frame appearance while incorporating leather, contrasting colors, or different materials on the back.
Partial Leather Wrapping
Leather wraps the back and selected areas of the sides, leaving some textured TPU exposed. Carefully finished edges provide a smooth transition between materials while keeping the case easy to install and remove.
Full Leather Wrapping
A single piece of leather extends across the back, sides, and corners, with the edges folded inward onto the shell’s inner rim. This creates a continuous leather appearance across the back and sides, with the cut edges tucked inside.
How Do We Resolve Leather Wrapping and Bonding Issues?
During sampling and production, we inspect the leather cut pieces, bonding quality, and alignment, then adjust the relevant process steps to address any issues we find.
Wrinkled Corners
We adjust the cutting pattern and folding allowance, skive areas where excess leather builds up, or use heat-assisted forming to reduce wrinkles and improve contact around the corners.
Edge Lifting and Delamination
Before bonding, we clean the back of the leather and the shell surface to remove oil and mold-release residue that can weaken adhesion. We select a hot-melt adhesive film compatible with the materials. After heat pressing, we add a cold-pressing step to hold the leather in place while the adhesive cools and solidifies, keeping the edges and corners firmly bonded.
Air Bubbles and Unbonded Areas
We press from the center outward to release trapped air and distribute pressure evenly across the bonding surface. We also inspect corners and changes in contour to reduce bubbles and localized unbonded areas.
Uneven Panel Heights and Misaligned Joints
We match the leather panel outline to the recess and coordinate the combined thickness of the leather and adhesive layer with the recess depth to control height differences after bonding. For designs with adjoining panels, we align each panel during placement to keep the joints flat and consistently positioned.
Adhesive Marks and Bond Deterioration
We prelaminate TPU hot-melt adhesive film to the leather and cut both layers together, controlling the film outline and edge allowance to suit the bonding area. We adjust the heat-pressing temperature, pressure, and time to match the materials and use the recess to guide panel placement, reducing adhesive squeeze-out and visible adhesive marks.

Our Phone Case Structural Design
With extensive experience in custom phone case development and manufacturing, Champion offers full-frame, open-side, backplate, and foldable-device solutions.
Full Coverage Phone Cases
For full-coverage leather phone cases, we refine shell thickness, button response, and wrapped edges to provide secure perimeter coverage without excess bulk or corner lifting.
Half Wrap Phone Cases
Our half-wrap solutions combine selective edge exposure with secure corner retention, preserving the phone’s original frame while keeping key impact areas covered and firmly fitted.
Backplate Phone Cases
For backplate phone case constructions, we use fiberglass, PC, or selected carbon-fiber substrates with appropriate stiffness to reduce movement and edge lifting while maintaining a slim profile.
Folding Phone Cases
When developing leather folio cases for foldable phones, we control front-shell retention and hinge clearance to support smooth folding without loose covers or excessive bulk.

Quality TESTING
At Champion, leather phone case samples undergo project-specific quality testing to evaluate material aging, surface abrasion, bonding strength, and structural durability according to the leather, shell construction, and functional requirements.

Our standard MOQ is 500 pieces. Samples generally take 5–10 working days, while mass production generally takes 20–45 days after sample approval. New tooling or complex structures may require additional time.
Development can begin from approved 3D files, validated device dummies, or production devices. Accurate camera, button, port, speaker, magnetic-layout, and hinge data where applicable are required for fit verification.
Genuine leather offers natural grain and aging characteristics, while microfiber leather provides more uniform thickness and formability. PU leather, vegan leather, and selected sustainable alternatives offer broader color and finish options. The final material is confirmed through sampling for the intended structure.
We match the leather thickness and adhesive system with the shell, then control surface preparation, edge wrapping, and heat-press parameters. Edge adhesion is checked during sampling and aging tests.
We coordinate magnet position with the total thickness of the leather, adhesive, lining, and shell. Magnet alignment, holding force, and charging performance are verified during sampling.
